The UAE’s toughest ever obstacle challenge is making its Abu Dhabi debut at the home of the Formula 1 in the UAE on April 24th and registrations are open now. This extremely gritty endurance race is designed to test participants’ physical and mental strength to the maximum and with tickets anticipated to go fast, this is definitely one not to be missed.
The course layout will see competitors navigate military-based, custom-built obstacles such as running up huge giant ladders, dunking themselves into frigid water, a 6m water plunge, swinging across monkey bars and crawling though the calf-cramping sand obstacles.
Last year’s event, the first of its kind in the Middle East, was held in Dubai and this year the Desert Warrior Challenge promises to be bigger and better with a brand new ‘Marine Madness’ course, where warriors can enjoy the cool water after building up a sweat on the course.
A choice of three categories are on offer for those wanting to release their inner warrior and take up the ultimate desert challenge. The main category, the ‘Desert Warrior’ has more than 20 obstacles scattered over 10 kilometres of track; the ‘Ultimate Warrior’ category is open to those wishing to push themselves a little harder and is the same course as the Desert Warrior but timed. ‘Fearless Warrior’, a shorter option for ‘Warriors in Training’, consists of 12 obstacles spread over 5 kilometres, and a ‘Junior Warrior’ event – a shorter obstacles course for children.
Al Tareq Al Ameri, CEO of Yas Marina Circuit, said: “We look constantly to broaden the range of events at Yas Marina Circuit, and the Desert Warrior Challenge is a great addition to our line-up. This exciting and challenging race expands further our health and fitness portfolio and offers another way to reach out to people wishing to lead a more healthy lifestyle, making exercise both fun and inspiring.”
“We are very pleased to be able to bring the UAE’s toughest endurance challenge to the UAE’s premier community fitness destination,” said Troy Gilham, Managing Director at Desert Warrior Challenge. “To experience our unique course in a unique environment means that this year’s race will be something special and we urge both teams and individuals to sign up or risk missing out!”
Both teams and individuals are welcome to participate and registration is open now, all details can be found at http://www.yasmarinacircuit.com/en/fitness/fitness-activities/desert-warrior-challenge
