Finally! I can’t believe it took nearly 3 years to renovate them, entire buildings are being built in that time. I won’t forget the embarrassment of having people visit me back home and not being able to show them the one monument which represented the entire country.
“The landmark Kuwait Towers have reopened in the Gulf state’s capital after they were closed for nearly three years for refurbishment, Kuwait Times has reported. The three iconic structures, two of them with spheres that house a viewing deck and restaurants, were built in the 1970s to replace water tanks in the old city area but have become a distinct tourist attraction.”
Standing up to 187 metres tall, the towers were severely damaged during the Iraqi invasion in 1990. They were closed to repair about KD2 million ($6.8m) worth of damage but it reopened at the end of 1992.
It was then closed in 2012 to undergo refurbishments, of which the value has not been publicly revealed.” I wonder why the value has not been publicly revealed. Does anyone know?
