Having visited the original Spice Market in New York City in the meat-packing district, I knew a thing or two about what to expect from this well-known brand. The Spice Market turned out to be a qualified carrier of the name. The restaurant is exactly what we expected it to be and more. The restaurant not only impressed our much-travelled minds, but also was a highlight to our visit to Doha, Qatar.
Firstly, the atmosphere was magnificent, tying in Spice Market’s eclectic themes with a knack for everything fusion-oriented. Including perfectly set lighting, authentic decor and tables arranged with regards to the space of the place without compromising on the ambiance. Being in the W Hotel in Doha also makes it a great fit for pre-drinks as one of the Qatari capital’s best lounges, Wahm, is right next door.
Recommended Starter: Sushi Assortment Recommended Main Dish: Black Cod Recommended Drink: Hibscus BelliniThe culinary aspect is rich in all things fusion, from an exquisitely-prepared black cod dish to an array of carefully put-together sushi rolls that marry East and West in one bite. Jean-Georges Vongerichten’s legacy continues in his only dining destination in the Gulf countries with this tasty menu. When it comes to Asian fusion cuisine, I would go as far as saying this is the best in the country! Moreover, the selection of cocktails is impressive having something for everyone, whether alcoholic or not. The hibiscus bellinis are an example of this restaurants commitment for delivering the best.
Lastly, and importantly, the service is up to par to the known standard of the brand. The staff were friendly, cordial and helpful. The manager came to check on us and the waiters were very prompt in response and are full with recommendations. This made for an unforgettable dinner experience with friends, which went down smoothly like the delicious dishes on offer.
Hands-down, Spice Market is one of the best restaurants in Qatar and definitely a must-visit on any Doha itinerary. The food is simply divine, the service is amazing and the ambiance is perfect. We are looking forward to our next visit to W Doha and having another meal at Spice Market.
