Bulgaria and Romania have always been on my radar. They are the two newest states to the European Union, but have not officially joined the Schengen Agreement, which makes it a little bit more difficult for us to visit. However, we put some effort into it and finally made it a reality. Romania turned out to be more than we expected. The niceness of the people, the glory of the capital and then beauty of the castle-dotted country side was amazing. We visited Bran Castle where the Dracula myth started and visited Bucharest – one of the liveliest and friendliest Eastern European capitals we’ve been to. Truly, it is a country not to miss.
