I have always wanted to go to the Dominican Republic. Not only because of the great Caribbean allure it embodies, but also because I have a personal history with it. I have always wanted to see the birthplace of the bachata and the merengue. It’s capital is the first European colonial city and I can’t stop eating plantains since college. As New York City emptied of New Yorkers for the holiday break and an influx of tourists came in and upon my friends approval, I packed my bags a decided to give this dreamy two thirds of an island a visit. It turns out it was one of the most beautiful places I had ever been. I will definitely visit again.
