Destination Known: Lago de Atitlán, Guatemala

Gist: Central America, apart from Mexico, is often overlooked as a travel destination. But, like any other corner in the world it has its geographic charm and formidable scenery. As Aldous Huxley famously wrote of it: “Lake Como, it seems to me, touches on the limit of permissibly picturesque, but Atitlán is Como with additional embellishments of several immense volcanoes. It really is too much of a good thing.”
